As we get closer to the end of the N.B.A. season, the talk of the basketball town is who is going to be the MVP. In the past week we’ve seen Kobe Bryant will his team to victory. Lebron James went for three straight triple doubles, and Dwayne Wade has been assassinating teams to the tune of 36.4 points a game. With that being said let’s break down the top three candidates.
Kobe Bryant has lead the Lakers to a 52-13 record, which also is the N.B.A.’s best record. The Lakers are 10-3 in their last 13-games, and Kobe’s averaging thirty plus points a game over that period of games. He trusts his teammates more and they’re delivering which shows, in the teams overall performance. That’s just my opinion I mean you don’t go 52 and 23 by yourself. So kudos to Kobe Bryant and kudos to Coach Phil Jackson for finally coming to a common ground in which both of them are happy with a system that has them sitting on top of the number one spot heading into April.
Lebron James, who for yet another year has carried his team on his back, leading them to the best record in the eastern conference at 51-1. Oh, and did I mention King James is averaging 28.3 points per game, that’s second among the N.B.A., in case you haven’t heard. And he too is making his teammates better a factor tht should be evident in looking at his assist numbers (mental note I told you the mans hit a triple double in his last three games). And finally, Cleveland’s front office has put all the right pieces around the young MVP candidate, and this year’s Cavaliers look like they can get to the championship and maybe even win it.
Dwayne Wade…, I have to pause because I truly don’t’ know where to start. Better yet, let’s start with him being the N.B.A.’s leading scorer averaging 29.7 points per game, while dishing out over 7 assist per outing. In the last few weeks he’s played like a man possessed, killing opponents slowly in 4th quarters. In the last few weeks he and the Miami Heat have beaten the Boston Celtics, and the Phoenix Suns and are 6 and 4 in their last 10 games. He’s hit some clutch game winners and been jut simply relentless and virtually unstoppable.
If I had to pick one MVP though, I’d say Lebron James is the odds on favorite. However, if Dwayne Wade keeps going at the pace he’s going, and continues to propel his team into the playoffs, this could turn into one of the hottest MVP races in recent memory. So sorry to Kobe Bryant, in the minds of many having Pau Gasol is a reason you and your team are playing so well. Dwayne Wade does not have a true Robin to his Batman. And this is Lebron James’s first year with his Robin in Mo Williams. So Kobe this isn’t me saying it but the skeptics, your just doing what’s expected of you. Those other guys are doing the unthinkable, with a lot less talent around them.
Looks cool, but where are the full stories? I can't see em.
